Privacy

What this website collects, what it deliberately does not, and who else ever touches it. Written to be read, not to be survived.

The short version. Reading this website is anonymous. There are no analytics, no advertising or tracking cookies, and no social media pixels. We host our own fonts, and every request this site makes stays on dav47.org, so no outside company learns anything about your visit. The only personal information we ever receive is what a volunteer types into the LVAP hours form, and that goes to our own coordinators so the chapter can report volunteer hours accurately. We have never sold or shared member or visitor information, and we will not.

Who this is

This policy covers dav47.org, the website of Disabled American Veterans, William V. Brooks Chapter 47, in Bellevue, Nebraska. Questions, corrections and deletion requests all go to the same place: davchapter47@bellevue.edu.

It covers this website only. DAV National, the Department of Nebraska, and the other organizations we link to are separate entities that run their own systems under their own policies — see Where this policy stops.

What we do not do

  • No analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no Cloudflare Web Analytics, no page-view counter of any kind on this site.
  • No advertising or tracking cookies. Browsing dav47.org sets no cookies at all. (Signing in to an officer tool does — see Officer sign-in.)
  • No third-party embeds or trackers. No embedded videos, maps, fonts, social widgets, comment systems or tag managers. This is deliberate: a single embedded font or map hands your IP address to a company you never chose to visit.
  • Every request stays on dav47.org. The footer's “next meeting” line, the calendar, the Twitch-live indicator and the LVAP hours form are all served by services the chapter runs itself, reached at dav47.org addresses. Nothing your browser sends or fetches here goes to another domain.
  • No selling, renting or trading of anyone's information, ever, to anyone, for any purpose.
  • No account needed to read anything on the public site.

What you choose to give us

The LVAP volunteer hours form

The one form on this site is on the Local Veteran Assistance Program page, where volunteers report the hours they served. When you submit it we receive:

  • your first and last name;
  • your email address, which is optional — supply it only if you want a receipt, and the form works without it;
  • the month you are reporting; and
  • the hours you served in each activity category.

That is the whole list. The form does not ask for and we do not want your membership number, address, phone number, service history or disability information.

Why we need it. DAV chapters report volunteer hours upward, and those reports are counted by name and category. Without a name attached, hours cannot be credited to the volunteer who earned them.

Where it goes. Submitting the form sends it to a service the chapter runs on Cloudflare, at a dav47.org address. It is stored in our own Cloudflare storage and emailed to the chapter officers who compile the LVAP report. If you gave an email address, a copy is also sent to you as a receipt. Your hours are then included in reporting to DAV National and the Department of Nebraska, which is the entire purpose of collecting them.

How long we keep it. Indefinitely, as part of the chapter's permanent volunteer service records. We would rather tell you that plainly than promise a deletion schedule nothing actually performs. If you want your own submissions removed, email us and we will remove them.

Email and phone

If you email or call the chapter, we have whatever you chose to tell us, kept as ordinary chapter correspondence and used only to answer you.

What your own browser stores

The LVAP form remembers your name and email in your browser's local storage, under the keys lvap_user_first, lvap_user_last, lvap_user_name and lvap_user_email, so a volunteer reporting hours every month is not retyping the same three fields forever.

This is not a cookie and it is not sent anywhere. It stays in your browser, on your device, and is readable only by dav47.org. Clearing your browser's site data for dav47.org erases it. It reaches us only as part of a submission you actually send.

What gets recorded automatically

This site is hosted on Cloudflare, which — like every web host — records the requests it serves: IP address, date and time, the page requested, and the browser's user-agent string. Cloudflare uses this to serve pages and to absorb attacks and abusive traffic. Chapter officers do not have a dashboard of who visited what, because we never added one.

Who handles data for us

Two companies, both only as far as the work requires:

  • Cloudflare — hosts the site, runs the small programs behind the calendar, documents and LVAP form, stores LVAP submissions, and provides the sign-in that protects the officer tools.
  • Resend — delivers the LVAP notification to our coordinators and the receipt to you. It handles the contents of that one email.

Neither is permitted to use chapter or visitor information for their own purposes.

Officer sign-in

A few areas of this site are restricted, and the Chapter Administration page lists them openly. Signing in sets a session cookie identifying the officer to the tool. Two things are worth stating plainly:

  • The Service Officer Log holds veterans' names alongside claim activity. It sits behind its own separate sign-in that chapter officers do not have, it is excluded from search engines, and the information in it is governed by DAV service program confidentiality — not by this website policy.
  • Officer tools exist to keep chapter records, not to watch members. None of them track public visitors.

Where this policy stops

Links that leave dav47.org open in a new tab, and the site you land on is governed by its own policy, not ours. That includes joining DAV — the JOIN button hands you to DAV National's membership system at mydav.org, and everything you enter there is collected by DAV National under their policy. The same goes for donations to DAV, our Facebook page and WhatsApp group, Twitch and Discord, the VA's own websites, and Google Maps directions. We add a source tag to our JOIN link so National can tell that a new member came from this chapter's website; it identifies the chapter, not you.

Children

This site is meant for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us something, email us and we will delete it.

Your choices

Email davchapter47@bellevue.edu to ask what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. We are a small volunteer chapter, not a company with a privacy department — a real person will read it and answer. If you would rather report hours without giving an email address, simply leave that field empty.

Security

The site is served only over HTTPS, restricted areas are protected by sign-in at the network edge before a page is ever served, and access to chapter records is limited to the officers who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise — which is a reason the LVAP form asks for as little as it does.

Changes

If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it. Material changes will be mentioned in the chapter newsletter rather than quietly slipped in.
